Proof, if it were needed, that "out-of-vision" is the best place for me
Fairfield Halls, Croydon.
Not your ordinary awards show, but 200 students of Croydon College are about to metamorphose from 'Graduand' to 'Graduate' with announcements by Your Correspondent. Nice to catch up with a few old mates on the crew!
Gala dinner for 'Dominos'. Jonathan Ross, acrobatic dance group 'Diversity', and 1200 pizza shop managers. Guess what was for dinner? Wrong!
(Just one of many events who asked me back the following year, which is always nice.)
Mean. Moody. And several other words beginning with 'M'.
Huge respect to Victoria Baptiste of Flux Photographic for making a photo like this from such unpromising material!
The EI Awards, Park Lane.
(L to R) Voice of God: Producer: Huw Edwards off the telly.
Moment to remember - after my first piece Huw said "wish I had a voice like that".
During the show. To the audience.
That quote will, along with Moira Stuart's "Mister Mellifluous", brighten my darker moments.
Abbey Road Studios.
Emeli Sande at a special event for the Stephen Lawrence Trust, announced by Your Correspondent.
Wycombe Sound trial run, 2015.
It became a tradition during this 4 week run for every guest to have their picture taken after their interview. Some of them even wanted to sit in the hot-seat (at which point I usually said I was off for a coffee and would they be OK for fifteen minutes or so?)
1200 Network Rail employees, Jason Manford on stage and Your Correspondent in his usual place - lurking out of sight on the balcony.
A studio, somewhere.
Lesson 1 - always speak into the side of the microphone marked 'Front'!
BBC Radio Leeds, 1981 or so.
I can still remember what all the buttons do on that BBC Mark 3 desk. It's a classic design, some are still in use and there's one in the Science Museum. Note the vinyl records and total absence of anything resembling a computer!
